WPA- National Youth Administration (NYA)
This photo is of a NYA booth at a convention.
This administration helped citizens between 16 and 25 who are still interested in continuing their education while providing for them selves as well as their family, this program gave them part-time jobs. Since there was high levels of unemployment, even part-time jobs were hard to find. The National Youth Administration was implemented when Franklin D. Roosevelt's first term as the president. The NYA was originally started in 1935, along with the Works Progress Administration, then in 1939 it was transferred to the Federal Security Agency, and then in 1942 it was placed under the War Manpower Commission. This administration was originally planned to help youth find work, but as the unemployment rate decreased and as war approaches the states, it was switched over to training youth to fight in the war, and defend their country. This administration is partnered with NBGC (National Boys and Girls Club) and is sponsored by many people around the world from strangers to celebrities and athletes such as LeBron James. They have come up with a code of conduct through out the years of being funded. They have followed this code of conduct for the 106 years they have been open and running, and helping children with their lives, and understand that they can do whatever you want, if you only try. The NYA also had negative effect in some peoples opinions, many people believed that this was created for people to take advantage of the help given by the association. People have there own opinions about this association ranging from good thoughts and wanting to support them, others were wanting to shut them down and talking smack about the NYA. Disregarding the people who were un-supporting this origination, they have been up and running through out the years and helping students and young adults since the very start, through the good and hard times.
